Langstrand is a favorite holiday spot for many local Namibians as well as South African visitors. There used to be a couple of caches nearby, but they have been disabled, so we decided to hide a new one.
Langstrand becomes a bustling coastal residential area and campsite during the December holiday and Easter long weekend, but is actually a quite place the rest of the year. The name "Langstrand" is Afrikaans, which translates to "Long Beach" and comes from the long flat beach to the north, which is a lovely swimming area and sometimes visited by fishermen.
When visiting the area you can grab a bite at the restaurant or a drink at the bar at the end of the small jetty, you could go for a dip in the tidal pool or a stroll on the beach. Nearby is another cache located at the desert adventure centre which provides a variety of desert exploration activies.
The cache is located by the high tide water pool/pond which is connected to the ocean by a pipe running underneath the beach. Watch out for muggles on the grassy side of the pool/pond.
NOTE: No red line was used in the hiding of this cache.
Hope you enjoy the beach and the cache.
