Dedicated to Texas native Farrah Fawcett. Model, actress, artist and subject of the best-selling poster to date. The poster is said to be a modern icon and a symbol of the late 1970s.
The cache is located at the south end of Russ Pittman Park, home to the Nature Discovery Center at Evergreen and Newcastle in Bellaire and is placed with their full cooperation. While there, feel free to take a stroll around the park. It's a natural oasis in this concrete jungle we call Houston. After visiting their Web site to get the link, we were amazed at all the nature classes and signed up for a one-hour tree identification class held on a Saturday morning. The Park's mix of prairie grasses, tall pecans, native understory and wide lawns is home to a variety of animals, from butterflies and beetles to squirrels and birds. During spring and fall migration seasons, over 80 species of warblers, vireos, orioles and more stop in for food, rest and water - giving us a great opportunity to see and photograph them.
The Nature Discovery Center offers science and nature programs for children, families, scouts, and schools. The Discovery Rooms are free and open Tues. through Sunday from 12 noon – 5:30 pm. Come by or check out the website: naturediscoverycenter.org
