Elhart’s Blue Jays Starting Line Up Series
7 April 1977. The day the Toronto Blue Jays played the first game at Exhibition Stadium.
It was a snowy afternoon. Doug Ault hit 2 homeruns. The Jays beat the White Sox 9-5.
And A life long Blue Jays fan was born! I have been a fan since, Thru the bad times and the good times.
They have won the American League East 6 times.
The Jays won back-to-back World Series in 1992 and 1993.
The Jays have had a lot of great players, over the years. Some stayed, some where only around for a season or two. On the flip side they also signed and drafted some bad players too!
Some of the great players to don the Jays uniform were,
Paul Molitor played for the Jays for 3 years hit, 51HR. had 256 RBIs and stole 54 bases
It was Molitor’s offensive performance during the 93 series—which was highlighted by 12 hits in 24 at-bats and 10 runs scored, that earned him the, 1992 World Series Most Valuable Player honours.
Dave Winfield had the series winning hit during the 92 World Series against Atlanta.
Jack Morris and Roger Clements both pitched for the Jays. Clements set a career high, and Jays record with 292 K’s in 97.
John Olerud in 1993, his breakout season, led the American League in batting average (.363), intentional walks (33), times on base (321), on-base percentage (.473), OPS (1.072), and doubles (54, also a career high), while posting career highs in home runs (24), runs batted in (107), runs (109), and hits (200). He flirted with a .400 batting average for much of the season, with his average staying higher than .400 as late as August 24.
And who can forget Jose Bautista’s bat flip during the 2015 ALCS
Dave Stieb holds the Jays records for pitching with innings pitched 2873, 175 wins, 1656 strike outs completed games 102 and only no hitter in jays’ history.
This series will concentrate on my favorite players to wear the blue Jays uniform. I would like to take credit for the unique idea of this series but I can’t. I am following ranger170s series on the Raptors.
There will be 11 caches in the series. 1 for each position player, 1 starter and 1 closer and because the Jays are an American League Team there will be one DH
Each cache is a painted PB jar. At the time of deployment each cache contained a log, pencil and a 75th Anniversary Pin.
Please rehide as found or better.
Caches 1-6 are along a little used trail in New Maryland.
Caches 7-11 are along the power line which is also an ATV/ Snowmobile trail.
Cache series is being placed during the 2022 WINCAT
Some will disagree with my choices and that is ok. Here are my favorite Blue Jays!
