This cache is placed in Rhayader town centre. It is placed in the shadows of two vertical stones commemorating the Queens Golden Jubilee in 2002.
Also nearby is the lovely St Clements Church which overlooks the River Wye.
The church almost certainly was founded in the Dark Ages. It was later a part of nearby Rhayader castle or, as some accounts have it, it was built on the site of an earlier garrison church. It was in existence by at least 1291 for in that year it was recorded in the Taxatio as 'Ecclesia de Raedr' (Rhayader church). The medieval church collapsed in 1772 and was rebuilt on a rectangular plan, with the west tower added in 1783.
The cache itself is a small clip lock container with enough room for a small trackable, however it does not have a pen so please bring one with you.
Parking is available nearby making this an easy quick cache and dash perhaps on the way to the lovely Elan valle;, or why not explore the lovely town a bit more on foot and take in the other 2 caches on a circular loop!
Please replace as found or in a more camouflage spot to make it fun for future catchers, and to prevent muggles from spotting it as this can be a high muggle area. Therefore stealth will also be required.
