The territory of Arzachena, in addition to preserving beautiful nuraghi and evocative necropolis, is scattered with characteristic monuments of Gallura: the tafoni. The word, of Corsican origin, indicates the natural cavities of the granite produced by natural erosion; in the local dialect they are indicated with the name of conchi.
The humidity, penetrating into the granite boulder, caused it to disintegrate with the consequent creation of cavities and imaginative forms of natural sculpture. Frequent in Corsica and Sardinia, the tafoni were frequently used as shelters under the rock or for funerary depositions, up to contemporary times.
The cache is located in one of these characteristic and magical places.
