Geocache Description:

'Larry' as the locals call him is 17 metres high, 15.2 metres long and is 13.7 metres wide, with an approximate weight of 4 tonnes and consists of a steel frame with a fibreglass shell. The details were carved out of foam prior to the application of the fibreglass, before it was transported and reassembled on site. The process took approximately six months.

Paul Kelly built the lobster in Edwardstown South Australia and the final product was transported by road to the site, where it was opened by the South Australian Premier David Tonkin on 15 December 1979.

'Larry' had several owners, in 2016 the current owners started a crowd funding campaign to raise funds to bring 'Larry' back to his former glory, and with support from a radio duo who organised a charity site to help, they were able to restore him.

Last year and in past years 'Larry' won several 'The Best Big Things' competitions. And we understand why, he is spectacular.

We would love to see any photos or selfies with 'Larry' when you visit him.
