The Passion of the Christ is a movie that was released in 2004 and was directed by Mel Gibson. It became one of the most controversial movies in recent history due to the amount of graphic violence it portrayed as well as its' alleged antisemitism. The movie tells the story of the last 12 hours of Jesus' life, also known as The Passion. The movie depicts several events that occur during the last hours of His life including the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, the betrayal of Judas the Sourging at the Pillar and the suffering that Mary endures and ends with the crucifixion and the death of Jesus. The Passion of the Christ ends with the depiction of Jesus' resurrection 2 days after his death and entombment. Jesus rises from the dead and exits the tomb with only the injuries on his hands as proof of his suffering upon the cross.
