Today is the 13th of Jan, 2022. Tomorrow is my 39th birthday. To celebrate, I thought what the hey: If you can't find 'em, cache 'em!
I haven't had the chance to go on good cache runs for years now. Since my last great run, I've had two children, got two promotions at work, and have had to settle for a quiet life trying to avoid the Coronavirus...which I eventually got in January of 2021 (some birthday gift that was eh? And what irony considering my online handle that's been my signature since I was 15!🤦♂️)
So now that things are a bit calmer and I'm at the dusk of my 30s I figured I'd mark the journey into this year by hiding a cache or two. So here's the first one. It needs to be within good access and in an area urban and yet and at the same time unorthodox.
Dubai Sports City has had its fair share of exploration by the elites and the athletes alike. Victory Heights is a gated community full of beautiful homes surround by amazing landscaping and the lush greens of the Els Golf Club. Cricket enthusiasts flood the Dubai International Stadium on a regular basis when there's a big game at hand, and Kickers is a well-renowned sports bar and restaurant further down into the neighborhood.
Strangely, for such a large community, there was only ever one solitary cache in DSC, which is now long-since-gone. So I thought I'd take it upon myself to hide one, and I hope it shan't disappoint.
You're searching for a regular-sized lock-and-lock tupperware container near the parking lot of the DSC master developer's head office. It contains a logbook, a cache indicator sheet, and a few trinkets picked up from a nearby Dollar Store. There's no writing utensil, so BYOP.
The area is pretty chill, day and night, and lies on a regular jogging route for residents of the community. There are no CCTVs to spook you during your search, but I would advise to do this at night and to be as stealthy as possible.
Like its quasi-namesake, this cache can and will be a source of controversy if left to the eyes (and ears) of suspicious muggles, especially since laborers frequent the area and security is on regular patrol. It is both obvious and discreet, and part of the adventure is how to get it in and out of there without being detected. Playing pretend with your journey is a good way of doing it. It's closely watched by me, though, and so whenever there's a need for disabling or maintenance, I'm a quick trip away. Please securely place it back the way you found it.
This cache was placed with the assistance of newly-joined cacher Hamma_Cipher, to whom I gave the 101 just a few days ago and was super excited. So let's give her some encouragement to hide and seek for herself, eh?
