This Multi Cache will take you on a walking tour of the Marden Park Grounds. Parking is located at the posted coordinates and this is a good place to start your loop! I often bring my dogs here for a long line 'sniffy walk', and it is a popular dog walking spot...be prepared to run into some pups if here on a weekend:-)
The final cache can be found here: N 43 35. ABC W 80.18.DEF
Stop at each stage and collect the information outlined below to determine the values for A-F. From the last stage (the footbridge), you can continue on along the trail all the way back behind the athletic centre to the parking area.
Stage 1: Pavillion
Find the star with the two dates on the side of the building. Subtract the dates and divide your answer by 100. This is the value for 'C'.
Stage 2: Park House
Locate the plaque beside the front door. Find the year the house was believed to be erected. Add the digits in the date until you have a single number. For example, 1998 = 27 = 9. This is the value for 'E'
Stage 3: Bell Cairn
Subtract the two years found in the last line on the plaque and then add the digits in your answer together. This is the value for 'D'.
*The sign here is missing. D=5*
Stage 4: The La Guayra Settlers
What is the last digit in the year that the Scottish Settlers arrived in Guelph? This is the value for 'F'.
Stage 5: Enabling Garden Gazebo
Stand in the centre of the gazebo and look up. How many triangles were used to make the very tip? Take this answer and subtract 5. This is the value for 'B'.
Stage 6: Footbrige
Count the number of metal support rows underneath the bridge (don't worry, you can see them all from the end of the bridge!). Subtract 4 from your answer. This is the value for 'A'.
