This hide is to celebrate the NZ MEGA 2020/22 and Round the Bays Wacky Tour Adventure Lab (this was one of the adLabs waypoints).
As you all know we have had a couple of delays of the NZ MEGA due to a thing called covid19.
But no more, January 22, 2022 is the day when at Alfriston Hall we will get to celebrate all things Geocaching.
This cache is hidden near the Royal Akarana Yacht Club who on there website has a webcam of the boat ramp.
Webcam caches are a type of geocache that is very rare, and stopped being published in November 2005 when this type of cache was grandfathered by Geocaching.com
The only active Webcam in NZ is in Christchurch: GCHTKY
To log this cache you do not have take a webcam image, but you do have to sign the log hidden in the cache.
For a bit of extra fun, and if you want to create your own Webcam experience, instructions on how are given below.
Internet access (data) is required.
You can either walk across the carpark from the cache hide to the boat ramp, and stand in front of the signs between the NZ flags and look towards the HMSC building, or look at the additional waypoint co-ordinates on the cache page and navigate your way to the flags.
Using your phone, go to the Royal Akarana Yacht Club website:

Scroll down the web page to the Predict Wind Webcam image, tap the play button, make sure you slide the red button across to todays time. Zoom in on yourself and take a screen shot.
For some this will be your first webcam image (hint: see image above in selecting the best place to stand).
If you want, you can then save this image to your found it log, the image is how you log a webcam cache.
Pro tip: Open the webcam screen in Youtube for taking better screenshots, switch the quality to 1080p. You can also rewind the last 12 hours of webcam footage.

As to the location, the Royal Akarana Yacht Club (1895) is one of the oldest sailing clubs in New Zealand.
“Akarana” is the Māori word for Auckland.
The Hyundai Marine Sports Centre (HMSC) the building the webcam camera is attached too, replaced the old club rooms which where demolished in 2017.
