Bloomin' Uttoxeter
Uttoxeter wants to look its best for our Mega - and co-incidentally for the Britain in Bloom team, too! Please come along on Sunday morning, July 17th, to help us do a bit of 'beautification'. This will include litter picking, a bit of weeding, and a chance to collect some new Adventure Lab caches too! All of our mega routes will have been published by now, so you can help us 'test' them after the CITO if you want.
Practicalities:
Turn up at Bramshall Park for the briefing and to receive equipment (litter pickers, bags, etc).
We'll fan out along the route (see map, we'll supply a printed one as well) and we'll generally enhance the town. Everyone should eventually make their way into the town centre and congregate at the steps of the town hall for a photo and to drop bags (see waypoint).
If you are late joining us, just pick somewhere along the route and get going. Look for someone in a hi viz and carrying a million rubbish bags, and ask for some ;-)
Some suggestions:
Just focus on the route: we are not being asked to clean up the destinations, just the walking route so geocachers and others have a pleasant experience in the town.
When you encounter a park feel free to litter pick there as an extra, but no need to weed.In these streets (see map), all weeds and rogue rubbish are to go!
Take photos constantly! Before-and-after, or a group shot, or a particularly interesting piece of litter, anything! We're after geocaching-related publicity!
Do not touch anything dangerous (eg sharps) or fragile (liable to fragment when moved). Instead take a photo, record the coordinates and send to Ant (07810833089) or message the team via GC. We'll tell the council to sort it out.
Wear at least one glove. We will supply some, along with litter pickers and bags, and more.
