We're relatively new to Florida, and after living in places like Minnesota and Alaska we're still getting used to some of the things that make this state unique. While Florida is known for its beaches, theme parks, natural scenery, and citrus groves, it is also home to some interesting wildlife.
Since moving here, we've noticed many traffic signs that alert drivers to the possible presence of animals and other hazards near the roadway. One of the more commonly seen signs is for Sandhill Cranes. Having never seen one, we did a quick Google search and it became apparent why there is a need to warn drivers of such massive creatures crossing the road.
We're now searching for one of these elusive creatures in the wild. The Sand Hill Trailhead seems like a good starting point. We've also elicited the help of some eager volunteers that insisted on helping us in our search...
