Geocache Description:

Welcome to the beautiful Leatherstocking Trail, the southern end of Westchester County's Colonial Greenway Trail.

The Leatherstocking Trail is a 2.5-mile long trail running from Pinebrook Boulevard in New Rochelle to Rock Ridge Road in Mamaroneck Village. The trail provides a quick and easily accessed respite from urbanized life. Named after "the rugged, self-reliant outdoorsman of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales" (Larchmont-Mamaroneck Patch, 8/7/2021, Jeff Edwards, Patch Staff).

______________________________________________________________________________

This rugged, rocky stretch of the Leatherstocking Trail was dubbed "Gooney Mountain" by local teenagers (the southern section of this area was tagged with spraypaint accordingly). This tends to be a high Muggle area, especially at night during the warmer months.

Container is a slate grey bison tube with enough room for a log and a small prize inside.
