Hello again geocaching community. It's been a good long while since we've seen many of you. It's been nearly four years since we last hid a cache and we hardly find any these days either. The maintenance on our caches has fallen behind (slowly catching up, our apologies), but it's fun to still see our caches get found by new and different cachers. We also every now and again see an old familiar name roll across our email, and it makes us smile to think back on all the fun memories with you all. We also, when we last hid a cache, were in the process of planning a 300th hide. That never came to fruition. So, with Troutonthebrain back in town, we have decided to accomplish both of these goals at once. In one event, February 12th, we'll be hosting our 300th hide (as an event) and, more importantly, hoping to catch up with some of the people who made hiding worth it. Hiding wasn't about the numbers for us and it wasn't about getting the most favorite points or helping people extend their streaks (though there has been some of both along the way.) We always hoped to hide the caches we wanted to find. When we started caching, it was about the adventure. It was about going out into a park we had never been to, tromping through the woods, and finding a giant ammo can full of treasures. By hiding caches, we hoped to give other people the same chance. We wanted to place caches that were thought out, fun to find, and gave people a smile. And, along the way, it was our geocaching community that made everything worth it. Thank you all for the fond memories, the good laughs, and all of those many, many days in the woods.
This event will be a social event. We're planning to have eaten before we get there. There will be a trackable table and a logbook. And, who knows, maybe there will be a cache or two to find. We hope to see you there!
