I put out the YEG series to celebrate some of the great things and places around Edmonton. I picked one place or thing for each letter of the alphabet. There might be some disagreement on what to use as sometimes there were more than one for each letter but I tried to pick something that I thought was very interesting or unique about Edmonton.
Candy Cane Lane is a yearly Christmas lights and decorations event in the Crestwood Area which has been running for over 50 years. It is located on 148th street and stretches for about 7 blocks from 99th Avenue to 92nd Avenue. It lasts for about 3 weeks around the Christmas holidays and it takes in an average of 25,000 kg of food for Edmonton's Food Bank. It is a great way to spend an hour or more with your friends and loved ones walking up and down admiring all the work the residents put into decorating their houses and we go almost every year as it's a family tradition.
