I put out the YEG series to celebrate some of the great things and places around Edmonton. I picked one place or thing for each letter of the alphabet. There might be some disagreement on what to use as sometimes there were more than one for each letter but I tried to pick something that I thought was very interesting or unique about Edmonton.
Green onion cakes are an Edmonton staple and are served everywhere from Chinese food restaurants to festival grounds. They resemble a dense pancake filled with green onions. They are synonymous with Edmonton and can't be found easily in other Canadian cities, thanks mostly to Siu To who introduced them to Edmonton.
