A cache encontra-se junto a uma pequena praia na costa leste do Faial. O nome Grota Funda significa “grota” que é uma espécie de leito de rio que traz toda a água dos campos ao redor em direção ao mar. “Funda” significa “profundo”. No final, onde o leito do rio encontra o oceano, há uma pequena praia onde, especialmente pela manhã, nadar e mergulhar é muito agradável e a vista sobre a ilha do Pico é esplêndida. É um local muito utilizado por pescadores locais. A praia cai bastante abruptamente após aprox. 20 metros. Adjacente aos degraus que levam até a praia, você encontrará banheiros públicos.
Ir à praia e subir de novo é um desafio
The cache is near a small beach on the east coast of Faial. The name Grota Funda means “ grota” which is a sort of riverbed which brings all the water from the surrounding fields towards the sea. “Funda” means “deep”.
At the end, where the riverbed meets the ocean is a small beach where, especially in the morning, swimming and snorkelling is very pleasant and the view on Pico island is splendid. It is a place often used by local fisherman. The beach drops rather steeply after appr. 20 meters. Adjacent to the steps that lead down to the beach you will find public restrooms.
Going to the beach and climbing up again is a bit of a challenge
