Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Wherigo that is Easter 2023 (154).

The geocache you seek for this wherigo is not at the posted coordinates, but is within 3.2 kilometres (2 miles) of the posted coordinates.

This cache uses a new type of Reverse Wherigo caches, where the cache is found by obtaining bearings from any location of your choice, and triangulating the cache's GZ. Many thanks to day1976 for making the cartridge available to everyone.

Firstly, you will need to download a Wherigo player from your app store, or use a suitable GPS unit with an inbuilt player. Then you will need to download the following cartridge into the player.

day1976 Reverse Wherigo Player

When starting this wherigo, the first question you are asked is if you want to “Get a code”, or “Find a geocache.” You need to select “Find a geocache”. If at a later stage you want to use this same cartridge to place your own, feel free to.

The cartridge will then ask you to enter two 5-character codes.

The first 5-character code that you need to enter to find this geocache is - jf3n7

The second 5-character code that you need to enter to find this geocache is - kz62w

The cartridge will then tell you the bearing (in degrees) from your current position to the geocache.

The cartridge gives you a resolution of 1 degree on the bearing, so readings taken further away from the actual geocache will be more inaccurate. Previous users of this cartridge have reported an accuracy of around 30 meters from 1 mile away and 300 meters from 10 miles away. It would seem that the best solution is to take 2 sets of measurements. Two from a distance away to get the rough location and then two more from as close as possible.

This geocache is placed on publicly accessible land. There is no need to climb fences or enter private land to find this geocache.

For a very handy tool in working out how to triangulate the location of this geocache, try entering the following phrase into you favourite internet search engine “geocaching toolbox intersection of lines”. But remember, the closer you are to the location of the geocache, the more accurate the answer you will get.
