Geocache Description:

This cache brings you to the site of a long forgotten church and graveyard.

I drive past this place everyday and had no idea it existed until a week ago!

This area was originally known as 'South Bridgewater' and a chapel was licenced here in December 1846.

If you look very closely, fragments of the chapel’s foundation are visible near the front of the site

There were about 30 burials in the cemetery but only one headstone remains, that of Richard Rayne, who died in 1870.

A wrought iron fence enclosure is all that remains of the Mansfield “family vault”.

For more information on the history of the site, see No. 1041 - South Bridgewater (Granton) - St Peter's Chapel (1846) (churchesoftasmania.com)

BYO Pen and please replace the cache as you found it.
