These ruins are well hidden and easy to miss as people walk past. Look out for deer in the area and birds of prey above, such as buzzards, red kites, and kestrels.
The woodland away fro the open field is thought to be the site of a medieval manor house that has long since gone, records showing it decayed before 1586. This area was forested around 1847 and is shown on the Ordanance Survey map as Horstead Heath.
