Geocache Description:

Mary MacKillop was born in Melbourne in 1842. When she was in Penola she met Julian Tenison Woods and together they opened the first St Joseph's School in 1866.  Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods founded the Sisters of St Joseph to continue this work. Over the many following years, the number of Sisters grew as did their schools. St Joseph schools were opened as the needs arose: in country towns, and cities.

Mary travelled to many places and opened many schools, however St Joseph's catholic church and school Rochester is not of her flock.  The school was started by Brigidine nuns in 1891.  The church was opened in ABCDR.E. Symons and Co were the builders and A.A. Feltch were the Architects. The impressive two storey presbytery next door was commenced in 1917.

From the foundation stone of the church you need the following details to complete the coordinates of the nearby geocache.
