Narashino Forest is part of the site where the 16th Regiment of the former Army's Narashino Cavalry Brigade was once located, and where the Army's Narashino School, which conducted research and training in the development of poison gas, was established from 1933 after the regiment was relocated until the end of the war.
The site is now open to the public several times a year as a place for Narashino citizens to relax.
習志野の森は、かつて旧陸軍「習志野騎兵旅団」の第16連隊が置かれ、連隊移転後の1933年から終戦までは毒ガスの開発研究と訓練を行った「陸軍習志野学校」が設置された敷地の一部です。
現在は習志野市民の憩いの場として、年に数回公開されています。
