The Deep Dam Event
GCK9PV was first placed on August 17, 2004. The FTF sat longingly available until 2/25/2006 when "joefrog" made the first solo attempt to secure and claim the FTF! Since then the cache has only been found 18 times (although 1 of those seems questionable). One of only 41 5/5 Virtual caches in the World! I've had my eye on this cache for some time, waiting for the day when I would hear of an attempt that I could join, or find a "Divecaching" partner to execute a plan!
Enter Derek of the "Baker6Clan". Learning he was a diver and a cacher, I asked if he was interested in making a dive for this smiley! He quickly replied that he was and the plans began to form! Due to a plethora of reasons, June 28, 2022 has been targeted to make an attempt on this cache! (Our weather delay alternate is June 29, 2022)
A simple meet & greet event to wish us well as we donn our dive gear and head into the abyss! Followed by great cheers, and fan fare as we make our triumphant return to terra firma!
A "Will Attend" will put you in line to receive last minute notifcation as to which of the two days looks best to make this attempt. As divers we reserve the right to cancel a dive for any reason, no questions asked. After I drive all the way from Michigan, even if the dive doesn't happen, the event will. (I need to get one smiley for coming all the way down here!)
If you're a certified scuba diver and would like to join the "abyss team", message me. I currently have two other divecachers planning to join in the fun and excitement. 71% of the Earth's surface is covered by water! It's a fantastic world down there! Plenty of time to complete your certification training and join the dive!
(Fine Print: Total dive team limited to 8, so that we can keep a good eye on everyone. If we have more than 8 participants, we will form teams and go as two seperate groups to keep everyone safe.)
