Gunpowder Falls State Park (GFSP) covers 18,000 acres in northeast Baltimore County and western Harford Couinty. The park mostly consists of stream valleys of the Big and Little Gunpowder Falls and the Gunpowder River at the southern terminus. There are more than 120 miles of blazed trails for hiking, biking, and running. The area also has facilities for canoeing, kayaking, picnics, fly fishing, and even managed hunting in some places. And of course there are lots of geocaches.
The Hammerman Area in Chase offers a 1,500-foot swimming beach, picnicking areas, trails, fishing opportunities, and an archery range. This is the only area that charges an entrance fee. Dundee Creek Marina is not far away. The marina has ramps for boats, a store for necessities, and boat slips for rent. You can also rent kayaks, canoes, and sailboards here.
By the way, the term "Falls" refers to the drop in elevation of the river as it travels south and creates many rapids and cascades. The one true waterfall in Gunpowder Falls State Park is called Ravens Falls and can be found in the Hereford area of the park. This "sliding board" style of waterfall slopes at a very slight angle, allowing visitors to climb easily up the falls. (See the picture below)

At Stage 1, you will find a rock with a name on it. Put the full name in certitude (no spaces or punctutation) along with date associated with that name and you will be rewarded with the coordinates for stage 2. Stage 2 is not too far away.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
