This is a fun, easy night cache on BLM land. Hiking, biking, motorized vehicles, and horses are all allowed. There is occasionally shooting in the area, but I believe it's usually south of Lower Bridge Rd. Cache involves off-trail hiking well less than a mile (I clocked 0.6) with some rocks, but nothing too strenuous. Could probably be done by horseback, but I didn't check the sightlines. The posted coordinates are the start point with no reflector, then there are a total of 18 more waypoints (pretty close together--I could easily see from one to the next with my headlamp), with the cache hidden at the 18th.
Parking is available at the posted coordinates. This is a kid-friendly cache, and dogs are welcome, but be careful as you're near Quail at the beginning and when you get back to your car, and Quail can get busy. There is a fence, but it's just a few strands and won't contain most dogs or some kids.
Walk from the parking area to the posted coordinates, and use your device to face 210 degrees. Using a decently strong light (headlamp recommended so the beam is coming from near your eyes), look for a small red reflector, and head toward it.
Proceed along the path of 17 more reflectors that are either red or green. Most are in trees, some are in smaller bushes, and a couple are on logs or stumps.
When you see a red reflector, it means you will need to turn roughly 90 degrees (could be more or less). As you approach a red reflector, stop just in front of it and look left and right. You may occasionally need to take a few steps, but the next reflector should be visible from very close to the reflector.
When you see a green reflector, it means you will need to walk around to the other side of the tree (or other object) in roughly (not necessarily exactly) a straight line from your previous path, then look for your next reflector. You won't necessarily be able to see the next reflector from the side you approach from. Rather, go around the tree and then look.
Between WP6 and WP7, you'll see a waymark. I actually had no idea this was out here until I placed this cache, and just got lucky! Some surrounding trees are marked as "Bearing Trees."
From WP10, WP11 is VERY close but will help you line up to see WP12 better, as WP12 is very low to the ground.
When you get to the 17th reflector, your next ones will be three blue ones in the same tree. Blue are a little hard to see, so it's why I saved them for the final and used three of them. Walk to that tree and start looking for the cache!
The hint has some help on which direction to look at each WP.
If you visit during the day, please be considerate that the main use of this parking lot is for horse trailers, and park out of the way of them being able to turn around, park, unload, and tie horses to the trailer. (This shouldn't be an issue if you arrive at night, of course.)
