Beato Vicente de Albufeira Blessed Vicente of Albufeira
Vicente Simões de Carvalho, também conhecido por Frei Vicente de Santo António, São Vicente de Albufeira ou Beato Vicente, foi um religioso missionário português da Ordem de Santo Agostinho. Vicente nasceu numa data desconhecida em 1590 no Castelo de Albufeira. Os seus pais, António Simões e Catarina Pereira, educaram-no na piedade e bons costumes e, passada a infância, enviaram-no para Lisboa onde, depois de ter revelado um talento multiforme ao longo da carreira eclesiástica, foi ordenado sacerdote aos 27 anos. Em 1523 foi para o Japão, onde viu-se obrigado a mudar de traje e de nome, fazendo-se caixeiro ambulante pelas ruas de Nagasaki para poder entrar nas casas e introduzir-se nas famílias, onde converte os gentios e consola e encoraja os cristãos perseguidos. Durante anos, trabalhou na catequese, pregando a boa nova e administrando os sacramentos. Tendo passado por Espanha, México e Filipinas acabou martirizado no Japão a 3 de Setembro de 1623, queimado numa fogueira. Reza a lenda que dentro das chamas erguia firme o seu crucifixo e exclamava "Viva a fé em Jesus Cristo". Este dia é celebrado todos os anos em Albufeira, para relembrar a obra do mártir. Foi beatificado na Igreja Católica pelo Papa Pio IX a 7 de Julho de 1867, sendo-lhe concedido o título de Beato Vicente.	Vicente Simões de Carvalho, also known as Frei Vicente de Santo António, São Vicente de Albufeira or Beato Vicente, was a Portuguese religious missionary of the Order of Saint Augustine. Vicente was born in the castle of Albufeira in an unknown day of 1590. His parents, António Simões and Catarina Pereira, brought him up in piety and good manners, and past his infancy sent him to Lisboa where, after revealing multifaceted gifts throughout his ecclesiastic career, he was ordained at age 27. He travelled to Japan in 1523, having to change his attire and name and turning himself into a travelling salesman in Nagasaki in order to enter people's homes and share with them the Christian faith, converting non-Christians and consoling the persecuted believers. For years he worked in Sunday school, sharing the good news and administering sacraments. After travelling to Spain, Mexico and the Philippines, he returned to Nagasaki where he was martyred in September 3rd 1623, with the Japanese burning him on a stake. Legend says he held his crucifix firm in the air and exclaimed "Long live the faith in Jesus Christ". This day is commemorated each year in Albufeira, remembering the martyr's work. He was beatified in the Catholic Church by Pope Pius IX in July 7th 1867, earning him the title Beato (Blessed) Vicente.

A cache encontra-se numa zona algo movimentada da cidade, portanto convém que as buscas sejam o mais discretas possíveis. Peço que deixem o esconderijo exatamente como quando encontraram. É recomendado levar material de escrita. Diverte-te!	This cache is a remake of a dear cache of mine who stood here between 2013 and 2014, although in a different hiding spot. To those who visited and maintained it my sincere thank you! The cache is located in a somewhat busy part of town, so discretion in the search is highly needed. I ask you leave the hiding place exactly how you found it. Taking writing material with you is recommended. Have fun!
