Geocache Description:

When Cronan Ranch was first opened to the public over 20 years ago there were at least 5 of these around the park. A couple of them were at the top of the hill coming up from the parking lot and some down near the river. I used to have a cache in the one at the top of the hill. This is the last one that I know of anywhere in the Ranch. How long it will remain here is the question.

To Find The Cache:
It is not far away so all you will need to is to calculate some new decimal portions for the coordinates.
First you need to find the Diner(posted coordinates). That should be easy enough for a smart geocacher like you.
There you will see in the lumber making up the Diner a number of vertical 2x4s that are at a diagonal.
This is not the number I want. That would make the math too easy.
I want the number of spaces between the diagional uprights.
Since it is the same on both sides of the Diner it will be an even number.

Decimal portion of the Minutes of Latitude is equal to 3.808 divided by the  # of spaces between Diagonal uprights.
Decimal portion of the Minutes of Longitude is equal to 3.592 divided by the # of spaces between Diagonal uprights.

Latitude - N 38° 48.xxx'     xxx = 3.808/Spaces              Longitude - W 120° 59.yyy'    yyy = 3.592/Spaces

I know the numbers are weird but I also know you have a calculator on your phone. The answer will be a decimal.

Remember to be careful out here at Cronan Ranch in the Summer drink lots of water and use a stick or hiking stick to poke around so that the snakes let you know if they are there. Snakes frequently like to hide in the same places Geocachers like to hide caches. If there is a snake guarding any of my Geocaches you don't need to sign the log, but you owe me a good online log telling me why you didn't sign the log. Make it a good one.
