Счита се,че е била резиденция на върховния жрец на тракийското племе" Скeрмиани".
През 19 век е била убежище на четата на Вълчан войвода и от там е известна още като " Вълчановото кале".
Ranuli is the most important Thracian fortress of the Skermian tribe. The fortress Ranuli is located in the beautiful nature reserve Ropotamo, 5 km from the Thracian sanctuary of Beglig Tash. It was of strategic importance to the state of Apolonia Pontica.
Ranuli ist die bedeutendste thrakische Festung des Skermischen Stammes. Die Festung Ranuli liegt im wunderschönen Naturschutzgebiet Ropotamo, 5 km vom thrakischen Heiligtum von Beglig Tash entfernt. Es war von strategischer Bedeutung für den Staat Apolonia Pontica.
