Note: Nearby is a high muggle traffic area, use caution!

Welcome to the University of Washington Brockman Memorial Tree Tour, produced in 1980 by C. Frank Brockman and edited by Louise M. Hastie. The tour was given a web format and modified in 2010 by Carly Thornburg and David Campbell. In 2021 Theodore Hoss and Thuy Luu of the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences (SEFS) renovated the tour once again, creating a new website and adding over 20 trees to replace those lost over the years. Managed by the College of Environment's School of Environmental and Forest Sciences, the updated tour gives the viewer a chance to see the beautiful grounds of the University of Washington Campus, a resource of incalculable value thanks to its wide variety of tree species all growing in one relatively small space. This cache is located beside a fallen log behind tree number 3, the Monterey Pine. Entering the url bit.ly/uwcampustreetours or using the QR code on the metal arboretum tags on trees which are a part of the tour opens the website for this tour, which stems from this point and is the largest tree tour of any University in the American west. On the site you can determine what tree number 3 is and get an idea of the exact hiding place! There are over 480 species of tree on campus.  Nearby this spot are several of the specimens which serve as a snippet of the 81 species tour, including the European Larch, American Yellowwood, China Fir, Deodar Cedar, and Grand Fir, all beautiful and representative of what can be expected on the full tree tour (which I would encourage the viewer to take). The full Tree Tour as well as many additional resources about trees on campus may be found at https://sites.google.com/uw.edu/schoolofenvironmentalandforest/home . Additional campus tree tours and tree related information may also be found on the website, all designed to be self guided. Print booklets of the tour are also be available in Anderson Hall right across from the posted location of this cache. Also, take some time to check out the UW Medicinal Garden across the street, it is the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
