Geocache Description:

Welcome to Blitz "CHESS" - CARW2022

1.  This cache has been placed for the CARW event with the intention that it not be located prior to 09:00 hours Saturday March 5, 2022.
2.  Should you hunt and find this cache before the event start, it will not count for the event, and FTF points are only valid as of 09:00 hours March 5th.

CHESS is a fantastic game that has been with us for centuries.  When one envisions a game of CHESS one may think of 2 individual poring over a board taking a seeming eternity to ponder every move.  some may feel this is boring but I assure you, when in the throes of battle your heart can race with each move and your heart can break with each game losing blunder.

Blitz CHESS is a version of the game using rapid time controls where each player has less than 10 total minutes to make ALL of their moves.  In extreme cases some people set time controls for 1 minute and you get nothing less than mayhem and chaos.

During CARW events itis common for people to be BLITZING through caches trying to find as many as they can through the day.  Thus I felt this cache to be strangely relevent.

But hold on...I'm going to block your BLITZ and make you slow down your time controls for a short Puzzle.  This puzzle is going to be based on the chess board numbering system with 8 files labeled a-h from left to right (from the White piece perspective) and ranks labeled 1-8 with whites peices starting on ranks 1-2 and blacks starting on ranks 7-8.  Using a relatively recent game played by 2 grandmasters, simply answer the questions as they relate to the game.  You will need to know a little about the rules but mostly can you just follow along...Easy...Right?

Hikaru Nakamura is a Japanese born Chess Grandmaster who currently lives and plays in the USA.  Not only is he one of the top world ranked players but he is considered one of the most inspired Rapid Chess players ever.  We will use one rapid game he played against another Grandmaster - Anish Giri.

The final location is at N53 AB.CDE  W113 FG.HIJ.  To get you into the rhythm we will start slow.

A= The rank the white queen begins the game on

B=The number of pieces not on their original squares after blacks 4th move

C=The rank of blacks kings side bishop location after blacks 10th move

D=The number of legal squares whites Queenside knight can move to after Blacks 12th move

E=The number of pieces defending the b2 pawn minus the number of pieces attacking it after blacks 14th move

Do you understand how it works now?  Good! lets ramp it up a little...

F= The sum of the rank locations of all the black rooks, queen, and king minus the sum of all the rank locations of whites pawns, rooks, queen, and king after whites 16th move.

G=The sum of the spaces the remaining white pawns have advanced from their original squares minus the number of white knights left on the board plus the number of black bishops left of the board minus the number of spaces the remaining black pawns have advanced from their original squares after blacks 25th move

H= The number of squares available to whites king to move to after blacks 29th move where he checks whites king plus the number of time the remaining white bishop had moved in the game to that point minus the number of times the black queen had moved to that point minus the total number of knights and bishops left on the board for both players combined at that point.

I= the total number of white knight moves made minus the total number of black knight moves made plus the rank of whites most advanced pawn minus the rank of blacks knight - ALL after blacks 37th move

J= cooldown period...(time for an easy one) whats the highest rank  on the chessboard
