Bees are the world's top pollinators. After 100 million years of evolution, bees are the perfect pollinators. Their longstanding relationship with plants makes them perfectly adapted to recognize flowers and collect pollen. The length of the bee's tongue is even adapted to what flower they feed on. Honey bees are the only bees in Canada whose honey we consume! Honey bees are under threat from many sides: Parasitic mites, loss of appropriate wild habitat, the effects of pesticides in and around agricultural operations and the transmission of other bacterial diseases from hive to hive.
