The Cañon City Parks and Recreation District is conducting a cleanup on the Arkansas Riverwalk on Saturday, April 23, 2022. The Rec District has agreed to let the Geocaching community be a part of this effort. There will be non-cachers in attendance, and this will be a great opportunity to explain to them what our sport is all about.
Meet at the Cañon City Recreation District parking lot, 575 Ash Street in Cañon City. Geocachers will meet at the NORTH end of the parking lot. Look for my red Tacoma pickup flying a geocaching flag.
The Rec District is offering a free grab and go breakfast for participants from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Following the breakfast there will be a brief orientation, and then cleanup will begin at 9:00 am. The Rec District will supply trash bags. Bring your own work gloves and wear appropriate clothing. Also bring sunscreen and insect repellent. And come hungry! Let's show the Rec District that we appreciate being able to cache along the Arkansas Riverwalk.
There will be a drawing at the conclusion of the event for a CITO geocoin and a CITO Travel Tag. I will also have other goodies to give away. There should be ample time during breakfast to swap and discover trackables.
You will be awarded a souvenir on your Geocaching Profile for attending a CITO event between March 1 through May 31, 2022.
