Wherigo™-cacher
Wherigo er et verktøy for å lage og spille GPS-baserte opplevelser i den virkelige verden. Ved å kombinere en Wherigo-opplevelse, en såkalt modul, med å finne en geocache, kan geocachingjakten bli en enda rikere opplevelse. Blant annet gir Wherigo geocachere muligheten å samhandle med fysiske og virtuelle elementer som objekter eller karakterer og samtidig finne en fysisk geocache. En Wherigo-kompatibel GPS-enhet kreves for å spille en Wherigo-modul.

Da krigen kom til Harstad!
Onsdag 10. april var de første tyske fly på speiding over Harstad. De skjøt mot vilkårlige mål, og ei dame i Harstadbotn ble truffet. Tollbetjent Bøs sønn, som hadde gått underoffisersskolen og hadde sitt Krag-gevær hjemme, stilte seg på hjørnet av huset og beskjøt flyene. Om noen av flyene ble skadet er vel lite sannsynlig, men oppførselen viser hvordan folk flest så på overgrepet. Ei skøyte fra fiskerioppsynet lå inne ved Bertheuskaia, den fikk oppmontert et maskingevær og skjøt på flyene. Styrmannen ombord fikk skutt av seg en finger. Hele byen var opphisset og ryktene svirret.

Fire dager senere, den 14. april, la engelske, franske og polske slagskip og jagere som eskorterte diverse forsyningsskip, seg til i havna og begynte å ilandsette folk. De som gikk i land i Harstad denne søndags morgen var indere, irer og skotske politisoldater. Dessuten en avdeling franske fremmedlegionærer og en avdeling polske tropper. Med dette ble Harstad en liten kosmopolitisk småby. På gatehjørnene stod indiske sikher med hvite hansker og dirigerte trafikken, mens franske alpejegere ble stasjonert i Harstad-skaret. Skotske highlanders marsjerte gjennom gatene i sine kilt. Harstad ble en befestet by, men så var det heller intet mindre enn hovedkvarter for de allierte styrker.

Denne wherigoen vil ta deg med innom noen av punktene som viser steder som viser militærets tilstedeværelse i Harstad før og under krigen, men også noen av minnesmerkene reist etter krigen.

Wherigo™ Cache
Wherigo is a toolset for creating and playing GPS-enabled adventures in the real world. By integrating a Wherigo experience, called a cartridge, with finding a geocache, the geocaching hunt can be an even richer experience. Among other uses, Wherigo allows geocachers to interact with physical and virtual elements such as objects or characters while still finding a physical geocache container. A Wherigo-enabled GPS device is required to play a cartridge

This cartridge is designed to be played on the Wherigo Player.

Using with Wherigo Player for Garmin Colorado:
Download the GWC file to your desktop.
Attach your Colorado device to your computer with a USB cable.
Copy the downloaded file to the Wherigo Directory on the device.
Detach the cable, power up and go!


Using with Wherigo Player for Pocket PC
If you don't have a cartridge directory already set up on your PC, we recommend creating one and saving the cartridge file to that directory. To move the cartridge to your mobile device, you will need to connect the device to your PC and use Microsoft ActiveSync to navigate to your cartridge directory on the device. You can simply copy and paste your cartridge from your PC into this directory. The directory is normally Groundspeak/Wherigo/Cartridges.


If you don't see your downloaded cartridge on the available list in the Wherigo Player
Try renaming the file and keeping the extension [filename].gwc. There is a known Pocket PC issue where some cartridge names don't show up in the Wherigo Player cartridge load screen.

When the war reached Harstad!
Wednesday 10th april the first german planes were scouting over Harstad. They shot against var de første tyske fly på speiding over Harstad. They shot against arbitrary targets, and a lady in Harstadbotn was hit. Customs-servant Bøs’ son, who had attended Officer's school and had his crash rifle at home, took stand at the corner of his house and fired back against the planes. If any of the planes were injured is unlikely, but the behavior shows most of the local peoples view on the attack. A fishing boat from the fisheries supervision was laying in quay at Bertheuskaia, a machine gun was mounted and it could fire back on the planes. The masterman on board got shot off a finger. The whole city was agitated and rumors ran.

Four days later, on April 14th, English, French and Polish battleships and fighter ships who escorted various supply vessels, entered the harbor and began to delay people. Those who went ashore in Harstad this Sunday morning were Indians, Irish and Scottish police soldiers. In addition to a department of French foreign legionaires and a department of Polish troops. With this, Harstad became a small cosmopolitan small town. On the street corners, Indian Sikhs stood with white gloves and directed traffic, while French alpine warriors were stationed in Harstad-Skaret. Scottish highlanders marched through the streets in their kilt. Harstad became a fortified city, however, it was nothing less than headquarters for the Allied Forces.

This Wherigo will show you some of the remnants after the army’s presence in Harstad before and during the war, but also some of the memorials raised after the war.


Velkommen til GeoTour 68°N (GT4BD)!
Dette er en serie med 12 geocacher plassert i Harstad og Narvik med omegn. Serien har som formål å vise fram noen av de sporene som 2. verdenskrig etterlot. Både der du kan se noe i terrenget, og noen av historiene fra området. Dersom du lokaliserer alle 12 cachene vil du få et lite innblikk i hvordan krigen påvirket området.

Samtlige av cachene skal være forholdsvis enkle å lokalisere. Du vil med denne serien også få et godt innblikk i geocaching, og noen av de ulike typene geocacher (både tradisjonell, multi, wherigo og letterboks er inkludert i denne serien).

I samtlige av cachene finner du et hullstempel til å bruke i passet ditt. Dersom du ikke allerede har et pass så kan dette lastes ned og printes herfra: Pass

NB! Det er viktig at loggbok og hullstempel ikke fjernes fra cachene!

Welcome to GeoTour 68°N (GT4BD)!
This is a series of 12 geocaches placed in and around Harstad and Narvik. The purpose of the series is to show you some of the remnants that the second world war left behind. It will showcase remnants you can see something in the terrain, and stories from the area.

All of the geocaches should be relatively easy to locate. You will with this series get a good insight in to geocaching and some of the different types of geocaches. The series includes traditional, multi, wherigo and letterbox.

In all the geocaches you will find a hole puncher to use in your passport. If you haven’t already got a passport you can download and print it here: Passport

NB! It is important that you do not remove the logbook or holepuncher from the geocaches.
