A dream of travelling started with my first ride from Stockholm to Copenhagen and then to the nearest city in Germany. Since then I love travelling, so I decided to get some tickets to ride Europe. You are welcome to join the journey!
To escape turbulent times, I got a ticket from Kharkiv to Turkey’s capital. I made the shortest route to Istanbul, avoiding touristic Sochi, and only upon arrival I realized that I had come to wrong city and missed my ticket because Constantinople is no more the capital since a long time! Dooohhh…
Interested to see the new capital of Turkey, I made a short trip to Ankara.
Connection to Greek capital seemed so short and convenient that I didn’t think twice – booked a new ticket, looked upon the shortest route from Ankara to Athens. Yes, I did reach the final destination, but second leg from Izmir was overbooked and I needed to pay for an extra station to complete my ticket. Short does not always mean fast or easy! To make me feel better about this unexpected cost, I awarded myself with a further trip to nearby Sofia.
Kind of misunderstanding allowed me to wake up some day in another Southern capital – Madrid. Don’t ask how did I get here, but it doesn’t matter. However, desire for a sea breeze pushed me to take a short train ride to the coastal city Barcelona.
Ethnicity does not play any role to ride Europe! My last borderless trip proved it completely. At first, I got a ticket from Barcelona to Brussels. Being a bit claustrophobic, I made an irrational detour via Marseille to avoid any tunnels, but still allow me to see one more Spanish city, Pamplona. Further on, I stayed on the shortest route to complete my ticket. Without special purpose I made a quick connections to French coastal town Dieppe and then to another metropolis – London. Here I got my next ticket to my beloved Berlin – without any delays I made the shortest connection there! Suddenly unexpected offer appeared – cheap ticket to Bucharest. Why not? I took it. It was not as convenient as promised, but I overcame my fear of tunnels and used the shortest available route to succeed and to reach the Romanian capital. Back to our time zone – feels like home, hah? This means that time has come to finish my journey – I got my last ticket to Riga. It would have been a shame to miss this one, so I did not bother myself with any detours, but made the shortest connection and completed my ticket to Riga soon. Home sweet home!
