This cache will bring you to two signs near Avalon Pond – a beautiful little oasis to stop and enjoy while walking through this park. This park was named after Everett Crowley who was the first owner of Avalon Dairy which was Vancouver’s last independent dairy. Thus the name Avalon Pond!!! Please note that NO DOGS are allowed in the pond area but the sign and cache location are OK as long as your dogs are on leash and under your control.
On the lower sign you will find an email address with 11 letters (do not count the @) Using that email address convert the letters to numerical values with A = 1, B = 2, etc. If any letters have a numerical value of more than one digit add the two digits together to arrive at a single digit. (e.g. R = 18 - add 1 + 8 = 9) Use this information to calculate the following.
The final can be found at N49 1A.BCD W123 0E.FGH
A = 8th letter’s numeric value
B = 3rd letter’s numeric value
C = 6th letter’s numeric value minus 2nd letter’s numeric value
D = 1st letter’s numeric value minus 4th letter’s numeric value
E = 11th letter’s numeric value
F = 5th letter’s numeric value plus 7th letter’s numeric value
G = 5th letter’s numeric value
H = 9th letter’s numeric value
Checksum = 28
