This is a reboot of a cache I placed a few years ago. Unfortunately, the spot that I chose became unusable, so I have decided to place a new cache in an easier location for me to maintain since I want this tribute cache to continue on.
One of the best parts of geocaching is the people that you meet along the way. The hard part is when you lose one of those people, especially when it feels like it was much too soon.
The geo-community lost John (Tatanka49) in April 2019. I only met him a few times, but you only had to meet him once to know that he was one of the (really) good guys. He came to my Amazing Race 4 event and despite all of the obstacles he had to overcome in his life, I still felt like he could have run it....and probably would have won =)
John had over 4,000 finds (in 42 states and 14 countries) and 118 hides during his time playing this game. This cache is a tribute to him and one of the series of caches that he placed during that time.
The N80 runs from the Hicksville train station south down Route 107 towards Massapequa. Then it heads east on Sunrise Highway out to the Sunrise Mall. So from Broadway to Sunrise and back to Broadway again.
Along the route that this bus runs, you will find this cache. Plenty of side street parking in the area. Should be an easy grab for most and please use stealth due to the muggle activity in the area.
