Ballantrae is an attractive coastal village on the South Ayrshire coast in the area known as Carrick, situated 13 miles south of Girvan and 17 miles north of Stranraer. Ballantrae is also the first village you arrive at when you go north off the ferry at Cairnryan.
Looking out to sea from Ballantrae, you’ll be able to see the coast of Ireland (on a clear day), the Mull of Kintyre, Ailsa Craig and Arran.
Ardstinchar Castle, once home to the Kennedys of Bargany, overlooks the village which offers great fishing opportunities not only in the River Stinchar which is one of our area`s top salmon fishing rivers, but in the many rivers and lochs nearby.
The cache itself is a small camouflaged bison tube near the welcome sign to the village. You will need to bring tweezers and a pen to sign.
