Geocache Description:

Robert Baruchin

Feb 7, 1926 - Feb 8, 2011

*****

In memory of Signalman 3rd class, Robert Baruchin (Boo Boo as his friends called him…)

Robert is buried in section 34 in nearby Calverton National Cemetery.

He served on the Harlan R. Dickson Destroyer from 1943-45.  Although his ship did not see any action, he imparted many great stories about his time in the Navy to me and my sister.  Thank you for your service, Dad.

~Ogus

Today marks the 11th year since the passing of Ogus's father, Robert.  Yesterday would have been his 96th birthday.  Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of getting to meet "Boo Boo" or "Sta B" in person, but I have been able to visit his gravesite on multiple occasions now, both by Ogus's side and on my own.  After paying a belated birthday visit to his grave today (the cold rain yesterday wasn't ideal for a graveside hang-out), we came to the Panamoka Pine Barrens with the intention of placing a hide in his honor.  We enjoyed a lovely walk on a beautiful winter day, and after a while, Ogus found where he wanted to place this cache.

You're looking for a medium sized camo'd snapware container, with a logbook and some various swag, hidden in typical fashion.  GZ is not too far off of at least one trail, and shouldn't involve much bushwhacking, at least in colder months.  There is a special little prize inside the logbook bag for the FTF!  Bring your own pen.  Please be sure to cover the cache up very well when you are finished!  And please consider doing some CITO while enjoying these woods.  Every little piece picked up makes a difference!

Happy caching, and enjoy the trails!
