Nikolaja) in je v celoti obkrožena z vinogradi.
Verske slovesnosti so v cerkvi vsako leto 15. avgusta (Veliki Šmaren). Takrat si je možno ogledati notranjost cerkve.
The late Gothic Church of the Virgin Mary (more precisely the Assumption of Mary) could be considered one of the most picturesque churches in the wine-growing Haloze. It stands on a hill above Zavrč (where the parish church of St. Nicholas stands) and is completely surrounded by vineyards. Although the hill is not high, it offers a beautiful view of Ptujsko polje, the slopes of Slovenske gorice and the Drava river. The legend of the origin of the church is connected with this river. You can read about this on the information board next to the church. The church was built in the 16th century, and the paintings in the church created at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century have a special artistic value. One of the side altars is dedicated to St. Urban, who is considered the patron saint of winegrowers. The prevalence of the worship of this patron in wine-growing Haloze is evidenced by the fact that the late Gothic church on the Vrbanjšak hill (it is about half an hour's walk from the Church of the Virgin Mary), which burned down due to a lightning strike, was also dedicated to St. Urban. The altar of St. Urban from the burnt-down church has been brought to the church of St. Ana near Borl (which is about an hour's walk from the Church of the Virgin Mary). Not far from Vrbanjšak there is a beautiful chapel on the lookout point, which is also dedicated to St. Urban.
The Church of the Virgin Mary has always been known as a pilgrimage destination. Religious ceremonies are held in the church every year on August 15 (Mary’s Assumption Day). At that time it is possible to see the rich interior of the church.
