St Mark's Wyke was consecrated on 24th November 1846 and completed the following year. The architect was Henry Woodyer and this was his first commission to design a church.
Woodyer was a pupil of William Butterfield and a disciple of Augustus Pugin and the Ecclesiologists. He would go on to design many churches across the south of England, the most important being Holy Jesus' Church Lydbrook, and St Martin's Church Dorking.
