Evelyn was a curious person. Maybe nosey. But I'll go with curious. She would say, "Curiosity killed the cat." One would think she had 68 lives then. She never came across a secret she couldn't hear or a phenomenon she didn't want to investigate. She was always in your business... because she loved you. She wanted good things for you. But also she liked a good story. She never held back the stories either. She had a nickname for everyone, too. Some were enduring. Some were brutal. I can hear Evelyn now insisting everyone in the car pull over to investigate this beacon. To look at it and appreciate it. To wonder about it. Take photos of it and return home to tell about it. The simple happenings of nature were wonderous to her. Where we would all drive right past this (if we weren't in cache mode) I know she would have insisted on the detour to investigate.
Finally About the cache:
I'm assuming from the makeup of the area that at certain times there is a small stream of water that comes through here. The cache will not require you to get wet. Unless you fall in. Then... boy will that be a story! Please be delicate with the structure. It's seen better days and is fragile. Also, the cache is not hard to find once you see the beacon. I wouldn't go just sticking my hand in there. You will have a clear view of it. Look before reaching. If you get some spiders or other wildlife on you from a blind grab I just want you to know Evelyn is likely going to be laughing at you. Please know, the cache is sitting on a small perch in there. If it gets knocked off the difficulty goes up a notch or seven and you need a tool to retrieve it. I recommend a pole with a strong hook at the end. Good sized hook if you are familiar with this type of container. When you replace it, please do so with the handle up so others can get to it.
As always, trade up or trade equally. If your kiddos don't have anything to trade - or heck maybe your a brand new cacher without any swag just yet. It's cool. Take something anyway. There are things here that Evelyn loved to do. Look around. The whole area is a curious place. Horses on one side, cattle on the other. New barbed wire replacing the rusty wire. And look at all of those antique farming tools! Evelyn had some of those in her front property as decoration. Yeah - it's a beautiful place.
