While out claiming caches on the Thatch Road I decided to explore a side trail since it was such a beautiul day. I am so glad I did as I came upon a very large tree which an ambitious beaver had obviously tackled but never conquered . When I glanced up I noticed the blue tubing of several Maple Sap lines in the distance and went over to take a closer look. In years gone by there were caches along the Thatch Road but my memories are more of the berry pickimg expeditions that pollywog56 and I used to make to the area. There are so many chokecherry bushes that it is easy to pick your fill in a few hours., but you have to be mindful to be on the lookout for poison ivy. I have made chokecherry jelly, pancake syrup and even liqueur and wine. There are also quite a few elderberry bushes in the area that you sometimes have to battle stinging nettle to get to. No battles today, just a peaceful walk and a nice little spot to leave a cache.
