The Taylor Dam was built in 1965 and is the largest flood protection earth dam in New Zealand. It was built to control flooding of Blenheim township which began its history being called Beavertown due to the number of floods experienced. The dam is now maintained by the Marlborough District Council and forms a pleasant recreational area for Marlborough. The cache is a mint tin, with no pencil.
