Geocache Description:

Welcome to Stone Coal Lake. There is some unique history around this lake. I personally grew up spending weekends and night camping and fishing in this holler. My Great Grandmother (Agatha Cutright) had a big farm across from where the hillbilly Grill is now. The foundation and building is still there on the way to the parking for this cache. The area around the lake has many cairns and old houses, cellars and foundations.This cache is designed to get you to take a short walk to one of the lest visited areas of the county with a very cool monument. The Linger head stone is very unique. Nicholas Linger was a revolutionary war soldier who lived on a farm now covered mostly by the lake. You do not have to enter the cemetery where the marker is located to complet the geocache. People routinely hunt and fish after dark down this road. No one lives anywhere around the road and it doesnt matter when you go for this cache...day or night is fine. Again you do not have to enter the cemetery to complete this cache.

 The cache is in a dead zone and cell service is nonexistent to very very poor. Plan accordingly. The cache is a regular beside 2 big logs covered with rocks It contains a log book pencils and several goodies for people to trade. Please hide it back as good or better than you found it.

To find the cache you will need to park at stage 1 beside the boat ramp. Follow the sign for Linger Cemetery to stage 2... and answer the following 3 questions to ascertain the location of the final regular sized container.

Question 1. Between Stage 1 and stage 2  how many gates did you have to cross or go around?

1= N38°57.882

2=N38°57.435

0=N38°57.145

Question 2. How many buildings did you walk by between stage 1 and stage 2 ?

1=W080°19.152

3=W080°19.547

0=W080°19.879

Question 3. At stage 2 how many tombstones are over 30 inches tall?

1=Right of the first tin building by 2 logs under rocks.

7=In the hollow tree projection 37°@75 feet from stage 2

0=on the retaining wall right base below cemetery

I hope you enjoy this little history lesson and as always happy caching.
