Mason Mill, Medlock, and Ira B. Melton parks are all part of one large forest, connected by trails. The Mason Mill Geocaching Adventure spans all three parks and includes over 10 caches available to basic users, plus several more for premium users. You can also participate in two Adventure Labs that start in the Mason Mill parking lot.
This cache was hidden as part of the Atlanta Science Festival, March 13-26, 2022. During the festival, anyone who finds at least 5 caches at Mason Mill/Medlock/Melton and completes one Adventure Lab can take home a special coin (while supplies last), hidden in undisclosed caches throughout the park.
This hide is a two stage multi-cache. You will go first to the posted coordinates, gather a clue, then use that information to find the coordinates for the final hide, which is a magnetic key container box.
At the posted coordinates is a wonderful statue of a young baseball player. Admire the statue, then take note of the number on the boy’s jersey. It is a two-digit number and the first digit is A and the second is B. C is A+B+4 and D is C+B.
The final coordinates are N 33 48.B0C and W 84 17.C6D Enter the new coordinates as Waypoint 1 on your smartphone geocaching app, then navigate to that point.
Now, look for the container, open, sign the log, and put back as found. Too small for swag. Bring Your Own Pen (BYOP).
This park is open from dawn till dusk. Please do not hunt this when the park is closed. This cache is placed with permission from DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs.
