After the Civil War, a group of African American farmers settled in this immediate area. Their community included a church, school, mill and cemetary. The church and school were used until the 1950's. Many of the farmers acquired large tracts of land and became successful in the area. The cemetary contains approximately 135 burials and is owned by the existing Shady Grove Cemetary Association. Please respect their final resting place. As you locate this cache, you can see the black fencing around the cemetary in the distance. You will not need to walk near the cemetary. BYOP
