In my youth, there was no Walmart, Meijer, or Target - there was only Kmart. We loved going to Kmart - the deals, people chasing the Blue Light, and if we were good, famous Kmart subs for lunch!
Then things changed. Kmart changed (not necessarily for the better, they even ended the Blue Light Special for a long time!) and more and more choices of where to shop became available. Most Kmarts, like the one that was here, couldn't survive the change. Fortunately, another business wanted this space, so many closed Kmarts still sit empty. There are now no Kmarts left in Michigan.
