Geocache Description:

This Fallen Warrior Memorial was originally designed and constructed in Ramadi, Iraq in front of the 2/28 BCT headquarters. It was moved to Ft. Indiantown Gap and rededicated October 21, 2006. It represents the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Fallen Warriors who fought and supported Operation Iraqi Freedom from July 2005 to June 2006. The 21 foot war damaged obelisk, contains dog tags of the fallen. As the wind passes through the obelisk, the dog tags move with a wind chime suspended below them.

Much more interesting information about this unique Memorial can be found on the plaque at ground zero.

To claim a find on this Virtual... In your log, post a picture of yourself (no faces required) in front of the "shattered ballistic glass" keystone.

UPDATE: 11-03-2023. Fort Indiantown Gap has now closed off all access, except at the new Main Gate at N 040° 25.501' W 076° 34.437'. I had no problems entering, by just showing my drivers license - so be advised. I’ll leave this Virtual as is, unless other changes are made by the government. You must also leave by the Main Gate. All other roads are blocked.

UPDATE 2: 1-13-2024. Changes will be coming Tuesday, Jan. 16 to how people enter Fort Indiantown gap, the base announced in a Facebook post. Service members and employees of the instillation will have to present a Department of Defense Common Access Card or valid state or federally issued ID that has previously been entered into the control points scanning system. Anyone without a compliant ID must go through the control points visitors center with a valid photo ID, where the barcode on their ID will be scanned to check the identity and background of the individual. A visitor pass does not cost anything.
