Walk under a waterfall to find this cache!
GPS is not very reliable here so please follow the instructions below and stay on the trail at all times!
There is no cache container hidden. All you have to do is answer the question below to log this cache.
Silver Falls State Park is one of our favorite parks to visit in Oregon. We love seeing the falls and walking behind some of them. Spring is a particularly nice time to visit, though every season offers something special. Although walking behind the South Falls may be a bit more famous, you can also walk behind the Middle North Falls and you will need to do so to reach the coordinates for this virtual cache.
There are multiple ways to get to the coordinates. The 7.2 mile Trail of Ten Falls Loop consists of Canyon Trail and Rim Trail and is considered moderate. It has 800 ft of elevation gain and will take you past 10 falls. You'll actually walk under 4 of them. Parking for these trail heads are at South Falls and North Falls. Day-use parking passes are required for all parking areas in the park and may be purchased at both South Falls and North Falls Parking areas.
A shorter hike to the coordinates is available by starting at the North Falls Day-use and group camp, but we didn't see any kiosks to get a parking permit there. An Oregon Parks Pass works to park here or you can get your pass as above and return to this site. The hike from this parking area will be shorter: a bit more than 1 mile to the coordinates (2+ miles round trip) but does have a steep section.
No pets are allowed on the Canyon Trail which will be used to get to this virtual cache. Pets on leash are allowed on all other trails.
As already mentioned, GPS is not very reliable here so the coordinates may not be perfect. Make sure you walk under the falls and continue to stay on the trail until you see the sign which says "Don't go beyond this point."
Once you've reached this spot look at the falls and answer the following question by emailing or messaging the cache owner.
Question: When looking at the falls from this location what do you see pointing at the falls from the top far right ledge?
Please do not include the answer or any spoiler pictures in your log.
We hope you enjoy the experience in Silver Falls State Park!
