Geocache Description:

Puffing Billy Information

Belgrave is the first, and main station on the Puffing Billy train line. Puffing Billy opened on 18 December 1900. At that time Belgrave was not the starting point of the line. It's journey commenced in Upper Ferntree Gully, which is today, part of the suburban train line to Belgrave.
Prior to Puffing Billy's reopening from Belgrave to Menzies Creek on 28 July 1962, a new station precinct was developed in Belgrave.

Belgrave station is the headquarters of the Railway, with both operating and administrative facilities. Passengers can visit the refreshment room for souvenirs and food and beverage. Also, picnic facilities are nearby. Belgrave is also home to the Locomotive Running Shed & Workshop. This where storage, maintenance and restorations take place on the Puffing Billy family of locomotives.

The journey aboard Puffing Billy takes you through the Dandenong Ranges, via Emerald, Lakeside Park and Gembrook.

Whilst lush fern gullies brush past and Mountain Ash trees tower overhead, Puffing Billy makes for a wonderful opportunity to relax and breathe in the fresh air whilst the train makes its way through the temperate rainforest.

Please note that there is no parking available for passengers on Old Monbulk Road, next to Belgrave Station. It is a drop off point only. Recommended parking is near the Metro station or in the town of Belgrave, which is a short walk away.

Opening Times

Opening Times for the Belgrave Station vary depending on the time of year. The link below shows the timetable but the station access is available a little before the first train and little after the last train

3. Note in your log that you are not adding a photo and send us (via email or message) the answer to the following question - For the two benches under the nearby canopy, one is sponsored by a person and the other by an organisation. Name both the sponsors. Do not put the answers into the log.

Any logs are made without completing at least one of the tasks as above will firstly be requested to do so, then, if after three days, there is no reply to the request and the caching requirements have still not been met, the log may be deleted.
